E-Source Says

What Are Your New Year’s Possibilities?

The presents have all been unwrapped. The cookies are all gone, and the extended family has left town. It’s time to sit down and set career goals for next year.

Nearly 60 percent of Americans make New Year’s resolutions; however, according to a study conducted by the University of Scranton, just 8 percent of them achieve their New Year’s goals while around 80 percent fail to keep their resolutions. Sadly, most of us who have vowed to pull out our weights on January 1 see our resolve waver as winter takes hold. In fact, we are so bad at staying committed to our plans to lose weight, exercise more, or get organized that January 17 has been dubbed New Year’s resolution D-Day (Ditch Your Resolution Day). Making fitness a priority is never a bad idea, but many Americans would be healthier and happier simply by setting attainable career goals for 2020.

New Year, New Career, New You

The Entrepreneur’s Source® (TES), North America’s leading alternative career coaching franchise, can help you set career goals for 2020 and beyond. Seekers, anyone interested in exploring the Possibilities, Options, and Dreams tied to business ownership, who meet with an alternative career coach will start their coaching experience by defining their Income, Wealth, Lifestyle, and Equity (ILWE) goals. Our coaches lead clients on a journey from a stagnant career with little upward mobility or few financial rewards to an empowering experience as they explore their ILWE possibilities.

“The Entrepreneur’s Source® has been helping motivated individuals set career goals and achieve their dreams for the last 35 years,” says Terry Powell, the visionary founder of TES. “Waking up each day to a career that is interesting, profitable and satisfying is a great reward. Setting your ILWE goals is the first step.”

Visualize Your Goals to Realize Your Career 2.0®

Visualizing and documenting your goals provides clarity and focus. It gives you an opportunity to dream and empower your future outlook. In a recent study conducted by a psychology professor at Dominican University, 77 percent of participants who wrote down their goals and gave regular reports to someone on their progress achieved their vision. Less than half of the study’s participants accomplished unwritten goals.

Giving purpose to Your Career 2.0® is how you win. Paco Beltran, an alternative career coach at TES, is living his ILWE dreams through business ownership. He discovered the energy and passion for pursuing a change in his professional life by taking the time to explore his true goals and making a commitment to achieving his dreams.

“My alternative career coach encouraged me to explore the possibility of business ownership,” Beltran said. “I fell in love with career coaching. Helping other people find their dreams and goals is my calling.”

A Better Career Is the First Step to a Better Life

Taking charge of your career can help improve your quality of life. More Americans are living paycheck-to-paycheck, TES research reveals. What’s more, fifty percent of U.S. households have very little or no savings and more than $10,000 in credit card debt.

Making goals in the new year to escape the corporate rat race and find a fulfilling career can help get your finances on track. Seventy-eight percent of business owners agree that self-employment allows them to take control of their finances with better money management, according to a recent report from TES. In fact, 97 percent of business owners do not plan on returning to traditional corporate jobs.

Numerous studies connect financial instability with an increase in mental health issues like depression.

Financial stability is not the only reason that setting career goals is the best resolution you can make next year. Studies suggest mental health improves when you find a fulfilling career. A recent study published in BMJ Journals suggests that being unemployed is better for your mental health than working at a bad job. Workplace stress can cause anxiety, depression, and weight gain. Following the advice of a TES coach can send seekers on a path to empowerment and happiness.
