Your Career 2.0 Puts You In The Driver Seat

Looking Toward the Future. Putting clients in the driver’s seat to achieve career satisfaction

Q&A with Gregory Cook. The Entrepreneur’s Source empowers individuals to improve their lives by giving them the tools they need to discover career fulfillment through self-sufficiency. Gregory Cook took control of his own career and cut out a killer commute when he started a new role at TES as Member Relationship Strategist.

Cook joined TES from the International Franchise Association (IFA), franchising’s leading trade group, where he built strategic partnerships to maximize the perks of membership. Cook saw IFA’s membership flourish during his 10-year tenure. Although he enjoyed helping members navigate the industry, develop meaningful relationships, and implement effective new business strategies, Cook did not relish his daily, two-hour commute. When he heard about the opportunity to join TES’ Performance Enhancement Center Team, Cook jumped at the chance to work with innovative business leaders and spend more time at home with his family.

“The franchising business model creates opportunities for individuals to find and achieve financial independence in their communities and to contribute locally,” Cook said. “The Entrepreneur’s Source has a proven track record of success as an alternative career coaching service because it puts its clients first.”

Making the education and goals of budding entrepreneurs a top priority separates TES from the crowded franchise consulting marketplace and puts them in a category of their own as Career Ownership Coaches. Giving clients a safe space to learn and explore possibilities allows Cook to build bridges with the company’s franchisor members.

“Cook’s reputation as a leader in the franchise community makes him a brand ambassador for The Entrepreneur’s Source,” said Terry Powell, TES visionary and founder. “As a member of our Performance Enhancement Center (PEC) Team, Cook will use the knowledge and network he garnered during his esteemed career to help our relationships with franchisor members flourish.”

As part of its client-first focus, TES coaches help budding entrepreneurs define their goals, needs and expectations through using proprietary coaching techniques that define their Income, Lifestyle, Wealth and Equity goals. Coaches help clients define their possibilities, options and dreams and then help them reach a point of clarity as to the best way to accomplish them. In fact, ninety-five percent of TES clients end up discovering a business they never would have thought of on their own or would have prematurely dismissed prior to meeting with their alternative career coach, Cook added.

While Cook is excited to help TES franchisor members from across the country maximize their membership, he’s also enthusiastic about the brainpower at the PEC in Southbury, Connecticut. “The work environment and culture at TES are amazing. Visionary and founder Terry Powell is a great resource. He was a disrupter before people coined the term disrupter. Having the chance to work with him is an attractive opportunity.”

The value of career transition coaching and mentorship showcased at TES touches Cook on a personal level. He credits Scott Lehr, a 30-year-veteran of the International Franchise Association, for guiding his career and serving as a role model. “Lehr taught me through his tenacious work ethic about the usefulness of relationship building, collaboration and the importance of tactical sales plans,” he said.

Cook is stepping on the gas at TES by setting lofty goals to help the company plan for the future and build off its first 35 years of success. The franchise industry expert plans to work collaboratively with his team at the PEC to help expand and diversify the company’s franchisor network. “If I can provide diverse opportunities for our clients and enable them to achieve their I.W.L.E. goals, then I’m doing my job,” he added.

Less time fighting traffic gives Cook extra hours each day to spend with his eight-year-old daughter, Lillian, and his wife, Jenni. It also allows Cook to dedicate more time to two of his favorite hobbies — exercising and fly fishing. Cook’s love of fly fishing takes him outdoors where he can reconnect with nature and rejuvenate his spirit, making him ready to tackle his next big endeavor.
