The Entrepreneur’s Source: It’s National Simplify Your Life Week

Did you know that National Simplify Your Life Week is the first week of August? At The Entrepreneur’s Source, we believe Simplify Your Life Week is meant to encourage us all to look at our lives and discover what makes us genuinely happy… and what doesn’t. It also encourages us to explore ways to achieve our Income, Lifestyle, Wealth, and Equity (I.L.W.E.™) goals.

Most of us go through life on autopilot… trying to do our best at whatever we are doing, whether it’s our jobs, school, or anything else on our “Life To-Do List.”  But as time goes by, we eventually realize that we are not giving our energy to the people we care about the most or activities that bring us joy but are spending most of our lives working hard for someone else’s goals.

It turns out that the biggest danger to a fulfilling life is not failing to work hard for it. The biggest danger is working hard for a life you don’t actually want.

Let’s talk about Phil for a moment.

Phil is the kind of guy we all know. Phil loves his family and he works hard to make sure they have not only the things they need, but also the things that they want. After all, dance classes and robotics camps cost money. So, Phil gets up early every weekday morning for work.

He spends about an hour fighting traffic (45 minutes if he’s lucky) and rolls into the office around 8:30. Before he’s even had time to answer the 35 emails waiting for him, he’s got workers coming into his office. Some are asking to schedule vacation, some are complaining about personnel issues, and others come bearing bad news about broken equipment and missed deadlines.

Phil starts putting out those fires and doing what he can — because he wants to make life easier for the people who work under him, but before he can get too much more done, emergency meetings are called. These are the guys in “Upper Management” — the guys that tell Phil what to do. There are demands for projections and PowerPoint presentations by Monday. Phil really can’t complain to them. He just has to take the harsh words and stern admonitions to “get it done!” He realizes he’ll have to stay at work late tonight and probably come in for at least half a day on Saturday. That means he’ll miss dinner with his wife and kids tonight and his daughter’s soccer game on Saturday.

On the lonely drive home, Phil can’t help but wonder if there’s something better?

Do you know a guy like Phil? Is Phil YOU?

When we’re young and full of hope and energy, most of us don’t dream about a job that chews us up then spits us out! Here at The Entrepreneur’s Source®, we have a name for that: “ The Battered Career Syndrome®.” Now, here are a few questions. See if any of them apply to you.

  • Are you exhausted and looking for another way?
  • Is this the example you want your kids to see?
  • Are you about to enter the workforce for the first time, but instead of feeling like a new beginning, it’s feeling like a prison sentence?

It’s time to discover how to simplify your life where what you do every single day, the time and energy you give, aligns as closely as possible with what you truly want to achieve in life.

DISCOVER YOUR I.L.W.E.™

The Entrepreneur’s Source is your path to a new way of living. We help you figure out what you really want — then help you achieve it. We do this by determining your I.L.W.E.™(Income, Lifestyle, Wealth, Equity). These are key components that contribute to your overall happiness and satisfaction with life. It’s a journey of self-discovery that will change your life — but will require honesty on your part and an understanding of trade-offs.

What are your lifestyle needs?

  • Do you want to be wealthy? – It’s possible, but will take a lot of sacrifices. That may mean less time for your family or for yourself.
  • Do you want to be able to build a business you can leave for your children? – It’s possible, but will probably take some initial hard work and sacrifices.
  • Do you want to have a job that allows you to provide for your family but still have the opportunity to be an active, present, part of their lives? – It’s possible and could be easier than you think.

What we are saying is that it’s important to know what you honestly want out of life. There are people that still live at home and work every chance they can get during the fall and winter, all so they can spend the spring and summer camping in a tent on the beach to surf. Those are the sacrifices they are willing to make to live that lifestyle.
