A Healthcare Veteran’s New Venture
 Deann’s journey in healthcare spans more than three decades, with roles as a paramedic and nurse. The strains of the COVID-19 pandemic and persistent staffing challenges propelled her to seek new horizons. Her move mirrors a broader trend: in 2023, 42% of Americans considered entrepreneurship a viable career path.

“In my healthcare role, I was consistently being asked to do more with less. You don’t have all the tools in your toolbox, and I got burned out during the pandemic,” Deann said.

Patti Peppel, once a mentor to Deann in their healthcare days, pivoted to career coaching following her own industry challenges. In March 2020, amidst the pandemic, Patti left her executive role in healthcare due to conflicts over safety protocols. Feeling adrift, she embraced career coaching for The Entrepreneur’s Source to chart a new course. As a coach, she finds fulfillment in aiding professionals like Deann to explore their possibilities, options, and dreams.

“Coming from a nursing background, the human aspect and nurturing nature of coaching appealed to me. As I considered my business options, I realized relationship building was a good fit,” Patti said. “Being able to work from home and having the ability to control my schedule was a bonus.”

The established rapport between Deann and Patti set the stage for effective, trust-based coaching. Patti’s firsthand experience in entrepreneurship and her understanding of Deann’s struggles in healthcare were instrumental in navigating this

During the coaching journey, Deann focused on finding a possibility that would meet her financial goals. She also wanted to find an opportunity with flexibility that did not require her to manage employees.

“Patti was helpful along every step of the way. She answered all my questions and concerns. She addressed all my anxieties, and she provided personal experience. She’s always been a wonderful mentor and dear friend,” Deann added. “She’s so bubbly and positive, and she has the greatest outlook on life in general. She just wants the best for everybody.”
