Celebrating a Bright Future for Entrepreneurship
Looking Toward the Future: Q&A with David Smith. Celebrating a bright future for entrepreneurship
Do you dream of becoming your own boss? Do you want to find a career that satisfies both your financial needs and your desire for independence?
It is possible to give your career a reboot and take charge of your future with The Entrepreneur’s Source (TES), North America’s leading career transition coach franchise, has experienced leaders and resources to turn your dream into a reality. As Strategic Integrator of the company’s Performance Enhancement Center team, David Smith ensures TES coaches have the tools they need to help clients succeed.
Smith, a franchising industry veteran, is passionate about helping people become self-sufficient and find fulfilling careers. His excitement for entrepreneurship prompted him to join The Entrepreneur’s Source® in 2017. He teamed up with Terry Powell, visionary founder of TES, to help more clients achieve their Income, Lifestyle, Wealth, and Equity goals through self-sufficiency.
“The Entrepreneur’s Source® is celebrating 35 years of business success,” Smith said. “Seventy-five percent of Americans want to be self-sufficient but don’t know how. Our goal is to help more and more clients achieve self-sufficiency. The future is bright for entrepreneurship.”
Prior to joining TES, Smith served as vice president and brand director for Global Franchise Group, a 1,500-unit quick-service franchisor. Smith has also held leadership roles at Atlanta-based Rising Roll Gourmet Franchising Company and HoneyBaked Ham. His 20-year career includes entrepreneurial and leadership positions with established franchise systems, emerging brands and start-ups.
Smith enjoyed his tenure working in the foodservice industry, but he enjoys the chance to help individuals enhance their careers. “Coaching is changing a lot of peoples’ lives in a positive way. To help execute on a model that brings people clarity for their Career 2.0 is very rewarding,” he added.
David uses a proprietary Entrepreneurial Operating System® to ensure the team at the Performance Enhancement Center remains dedicated to helping coaches be successful. By constantly enhancing its resources and prioritizing the biggest opportunities, Smith provides coaches with the tools they need to build a thriving practice. “Powell sets the destination and I make sure the trains run on time,” he said.
The franchise marketplace is saturated with brokers and consultants, which can be overwhelming for budding business owners. TES sets itself apart by focusing on the client. The company’s client-first mentality is a winner for clients, coaches and franchisor members. TES’ business has grown consistently each year for the last three years , and the company recorded record results in September. “Our business model is built around the success of our clients, so we measure our company’s own success around the number of clients we’re helping,” he said.
The franchisor members of TES benefit from the company’s unique coaching style by knowing they will meet with entrepreneurs who are ready to achieve self-sufficiency through business ownership. “When franchisor members embrace our model and understand that our clients have gone through a coaching relationship to prepare them to go on discovery with their brand, it’s a win for everyone,” Smith said.
Smith’s passion for entrepreneurship is not limited to franchising. Building off his love for the outdoors, Smith started a non-profit dedicated to helping expose children from all walks of life to nature. The Foundation for Outdoor Kids introduces kids to outdoor sports like fishing, hunting and archery. Approximately 150 kids participated in the non-profit group’s camping, fishing and hunting trips last year.
When Smith is not hunting elk in Colorado, or fly fishing in nearby rivers, he can be found cheering on the sidelines of his 14-year-old son’s lacrosse game with his wife or shuttling his 11-year-old daughter to dance class. The family of four lives in Roswell, Georgia, a suburb north of Atlanta.
