Career Coaching Nurtures Family Ambitions

Career coaching from The Entrepreneur’s Source^® introduced a veteran civil engineer to an opportunity for himself and his family. At a pivotal moment in his career, Joe Olson made a strategic decision to tap into the talents of his son, Evan, to launch a business.

Joe’s extensive experience in the transportation sector, including a 29-year tenure primarily as a region director for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and skills. However, a political shakeup and subsequent changes in the department prompted him to join the private sector. After spending a number of years in the private sector in the Carolinas, Joe began to contemplate the potential of partnering with a brand to launch a business. Joe is no stranger to business ownership. He has a wealth of experience in real estate. He also owned a bar and a wine and coffee shop.

“Partnering with a proven brand to launch a business provides guidance, structure, and an overall approach, so you don’t have to create it on your own,” Joe said. “You’re paying some money to have the rights to the business, but to me, it feels like the risk is minimized. And the reward is not diminished too significantly. It felt like it was a good fit.”

Instead of shelving his entrepreneurial dreams, Joe pivoted. He decided to take the job offer and continue to explore his business options.
