National Get Up Day was started by the U.S. Figure Skating in 2017 to encourage people to recognize the grit, passion and perseverance needed to “Get Up” in the rink and in life every day. U.S. Figure Skating, the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States, encourages people around the nation to participate in the celebration by sharing stories of determination on social media using #WeGetUp.

Unlike past generations, today’s corporate America does not offer long-term job security and advancement. In fact, the days of working at a large corporation for your entire career are long gone. The median number of years that workers had been with their current employer was 4.1 years in January 2020, according to research released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in September. Not surprisingly, evidence of the employment shift by age is clear. Among workers ages 60 to 64, 54 percent had been employed for at least 10 years with their current employer in January 2020, compared with 10 percent of those aged 30 to 34.
As job security continues to plummet, many Americans are floundering. At least 7.3 million unemployed Americans were trying to find a job in December, and yet 663,000 believed there were no jobs available for them, the BLS revealed.
