New Entrepreneur Pursues Passion for Service

Join the small business revolution! Jonathan Davis relied on career coaching from his longtime mentor to launch a business in eldercare services.

Davis met James Schrage, a career ownership coach from The Entrepreneur’s Source®, when the pair worked for a large hot tub company. His valuable guidance and support helped Davis at many points during his career in marketing and sales. Ready to start a new venture, Davis reached out to Schrage last year to explore his options, possibilities, and dreams.

“Jonathan has always been open-minded and interested in new ways he could move his career forward. He has a positive attitude and the learner mentality to be successful,” Schrage said.

Schrage launched his career coaching venture in 2001 after spending more than 30 years in the hot tub business.

“I’ve trained and helped people become better people and professionals throughout my career. Coaching was a logical next chapter in my life,” Schrage said.

Career coaching at The Entrepreneur’s Source starts by using education-based tools to help people determine their Income, Lifestyle, Wealth, and Equity™ goals. Our coaches help people decide whether they want to take a new job in corporate America, start a business from scratch, or pursue entrepreneurship with a recognized brand. We help people execute a career change that puts them on the path to a new future.

Davis started his career in marketing and worked his way up the ranks to regional sales manager. The Entrepreneur’s Source coaching strategies highlighted his desire to follow a service mindset, set a positive example for his two young children, and have the flexibility to travel with his wife. Laying out his goals helped Davis reach a point of clarity about his future. Wanting to have the freedom and control to set his schedule and achieve work-life balance prompted Davis to explore business ownership.

“I have a passion for helping people. Taking part in career coaching helped me understand I can take the experience and skills I acquired in marketing and sales and transfer that into my passion by opening a business,” Davis said.

Reap the Rewards

After exploring his options, Davis decided to partner with HomeWell Care Services to open an eldercare services business in the St. Louis area. HomeWell Care Services takes a holistic approach to at-home care. The brand focuses on helping people accomplish the daily tasks of living and improving the well-being of their clients.

After helping care for his aging grandmother, Davis learned firsthand about the need for high-quality senior care services. As he was exploring business opportunities, Schrage introduced him to HomeWell. It resonated with Davis, and he knew he was heading in the right direction.

“Over the years we have known each other, I have seen him demonstrate compassion and caring for people. I knew he could lead a team and be successful and HomeWell seemed like a good fit,” Schrage said.

As baby boomers age, the market for at-home care services is rising. The growing incidences of chronic conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases are also helping propel the home care market. The home care market in the United States is expected to reach more than $250 billion by 2030. An increase in digital health services is also making it possible for more seniors to age gracefully at home with the help of at-home care providers.

Davis was also impressed with the franchisees in the HomeWell Care Services system. HomeWell Care owners all share a passion for helping people in their local community and a desire to see fellow business owners succeed by providing support and guidance. They helped shape Davis’ opinion of the brand and allayed any concerns.

“Every owner I talked to told me starting a business is challenging but partnering with HomeWell Care Services and helping seniors is rewarding,” he said.
