Proven Pathway for Veterans Returning to Civilian Life

Military and Veterans for Business Ownership

Helping our nation’s veterans transition out of the military and explore the possibility of self-sufficiency is a passion for The Entrepreneur’s Source® and our 150-plus coaches.

Veterans gain the experience and know-how they need during their time in the service to take charge of their careers by pursuing entrepreneurship. Veteran-owned businesses in the United States generated $947.7 billion in 2019, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s latest numbers.

While heroically serving our country, members of the military navigate the world’s danger zones, where they learn discipline and how to perform under pressure. The stakes are high for members of the military, and establishing self-confidence, leadership, and trust is invaluable. As part of the military, service members are instilled with motivation and the ability to work as a team. Individuals with a military background excel at following processes and procedures, which makes them ideal candidates for business ownership.

Franchising Enables Veterans to Pursue Entrepreneurship
Franchising is a proven pathway for veterans returning to civilian life. Franchise business owners invest in a business with brand recognition and a track record of success. Rather than start from ground zero, franchise owners get an established business model, as well as the training and support they need to achieve financial freedom. While veterans only account for 7% of the U.S. population, they run 14% of the nation’s franchises, according to VetFran, an initiative developed by the International Franchise Association to help veterans pursue franchising.

After spending years deployed to various trouble spots around the globe, many veterans are searching for a flexible career that will enable them to spend time with their loved ones. Franchise ownership allows them to create a thriving future close to home and reclaim the work-life balance they lacked during their military tenure.

“The training military veterans undergo gives them the talent and skills they need to excel as entrepreneurs. Investing in a franchise allows them to make their own schedules and achieve their financial goals,” said Terry Powell, Visionary Founder of TES. “Our military veterans make sacrifices to ensure the future of our nation. Coaches at TES have the training and knowledge to help veterans explore new possibilities at no cost.”

Not only are there great statistics and information supporting how successful veterans are in the franchise industry, but many franchise possibilities offer incentives to military veterans. TES has spent more than 35 years helping veterans connect with potential business opportunities. Our coaches provide strategic, personalized coaching for people who are ready to transition out of the military and achieve self-sufficiency. They help veterans identify their Income, Lifestyle, Wealth, and Equity™ goals to chart a new course at no cost and have relationships with franchises offering discounts to military veterans.

To help brands connect with this valuable resource, TES joined the U.S. Department of Defense in 2012 to advocate for people who served our country by launching its Veteran2Entrepreneur program. As part of this initiative, TES coaches commit to helping veterans and their families by offering education and coaching services at no cost. Coaches help veterans explore entrepreneurship with no cost or obligation.

TES is also part of Recruit Military, an organization dedicated to empowering the military community with meaningful career opportunities. Recruit Military connects employers to military job seekers through contingency recruiting, career fairs, a job board, employer branding, and a military-centric publication. Since its launch in 1998, Recruit Military has helped more than 1.5 million veterans connect with employers.

“We put our client’s goals first. Our focus is on them and their success,” said Susan Scotts, just one of the TES coaches dedicated to helping veterans pursue new possibilities. “My dad was in the Army, and I always wanted to give back. I do it for the love of veterans.”

By showcasing the rich history that TES has with the veteran community, we were invited to showcase the badge “Trusted Military Business” on all of our websites and social media in 2022. As the nation’s leading career coaching franchise, we are honored to continue to serve this valuable community and help veterans achieve the American dream.
