The Entrepreneur’s Source: Blast From The Past
The Entrepreneur’s Source (TES) Blast From The Past: Susan Stilwell. Shifting From Probability to Possibilities to Make Dreams Come True
Susan Stilwell says she is a born sales person. It was the hardest thing for her to let go of when she joined The Entrepreneur’s Source® thirteen years ago.
It’s one of the things that make’s The Entrepreneur’s Source® so unique: “We are not franchise sales people,” Stillwell says. “Coming from a sales environment into a coaching methodology was a shift for me personally. I had to learn to detach from the outcome and allow people to go through the discovery process.” It’s that discovery process that has made The Entrepreneur’s Source® so successful over the last 35 years.
Stilwell already had the entrepreneurial spirit and a strong desire to help others. She was part of the staffing industry for the first fifteen years out of college helping people find jobs and helping companies solve staffing problems. She found that she was also helping someone else make a lot of money!
“I was doing well. I was with one of the top staffing firms in the country. I had a high level position, but I figured out that I was really tired of making money for other people. I wanted to reap the rewards of my efforts,” Stilwell remembers. “What I didn’t have was the confidence to do it by myself.”
Stilwell listened to her entrepreneurial itch and went into business with several partners. The work was rewarding and eventually, it allowed her to take some time to focus on her growing family. When the time came that she was ready to return to work, she met Terry Powell.
“I was so intrigued with what he had to say. It was so fresh and so unique. Having been an employee…having been an independent business owner and having been in a career transition…everything he was saying just made sense to me. I knew I wanted to be a part of it.”
Stilwell found that her past experiences in the corporate world, as an entrepreneur, and as a person trying to re-enter the workforce gave her an appreciation for the vision Powell had. “I learn from Terry every day. It was his take on entrepreneurism that fascinated me. He didn’t want to be that guy out there peddling businesses. The Entrepreneur’s Source® was established so that people that had a desire for self-sufficiency would have a safe space to go to, to get the information they needed because there wasn’t a place out there like that.”
Now Stilwell works to help spread that vision to more and more seekers – people who are searching for their path toward the American dream. As part of franchise development, Stillwell helps educate e-source coaching candidates to make sure TES brings the right coaches into their system. “You have to have a strong desire to help people. We are NOT looking for franchise sales people. We are NOT brokers. We are NOT consultants. We are career transition coaches. When we show possibilities to our clients, we are giving them the opportunity to explore them in a safe space…at their own pace.”
Stilwell also works with TES franchise partners…making sure TES clients have a wide variety to choose from…and that those partners understand what makes each of our clients unique. “We want then to start with the franchisees WHY. We want them to understand that you have to start with education and awareness and let the self-discovery begin from there. We want to slow the process down and provide them with all the information needed so our clients can make the best decisions about their future for their families.”
Stilwell now focuses her skills on one thing: The Entrepreneur’s Source’s® unique brand of self-discovery as a way forward to entrepreneurial success. It’s made us North America’s leading alternative career coaching franchise dedicated to the entrepreneur for more than 35 years.
“We’re in the business of possibilities. I see the future of that becoming even more exciting.”
