“F Words” Alternative Career Seekers Can Use to Achieve Self-Sufficiency as Entrepreneurs

Nothing worth doing is ever easy, especially when it comes to pursuing a dream. Ask Thomas Edison. It took him 1,000 attempts to invent the light bulb!

For many of us, dreaming of wanting more than the desk, in a “cube farm”, is just that: a dream. We want to run our own business, have more control of our lives, and enjoy the rewards those things can bring, but there are too many “F Words” holding us back.

The Entrepreneur’s Source acknowledges these four “F Words” to blocking people from attaining their goal of self-sufficiency. Maybe there’s one or more you identify with:

Frustration – The unfulfilling nature of your job is a constant source of angst, or just feeling underappreciated can wear on anyone, even you.

Fear – Walking away from a career which pays the bills is daunting, but compare that with the anxiety of lurking job cuts. Could you be next?

Financial Constraints – Yes, you really want a change, but where will the money come from for you to take the route of owning your own business?

Family and Friends – If THEY think the risk is too great, then it must be. If you don’t have their support, there’s no way you can make it.

Together, these words, and the negativity they carry, can be a formidable force preventing people from getting out of their rut, and attempting to better themselves.

There’s no question you must overcome fears and weigh ALL aspects of owning your own business before turning in your notice to the boss.   However, let’s also consider four other “F Words” that provide a more positive environment to grow your dreams of business ownership and self-sufficiency.

Let’s flip those four debilitating fears above into four “F-words” built to empower your pursuit of self-sufficiency as an entrepreneur:

Focus – It’s a laser-like dedication to finding ways to build a stairway up and out of your current rut. To creating real goals, with real plans, and not depending on the drifting target of “someday” to be your ticket.

Freedom – Imagine yourself NOT being tethered to a desk in a dead-end job. The sensation might be something like dropping a pack full of rocks off your back!  Becoming an entrepreneur, means YOU chart the course, YOU make the decisions, YOU enjoy the fruits of your labor!

Fortitude – Yes, it takes some real guts to reject the norm, move out of your lane, and into an opportunity YOU create.  But if you’ve done your homework, have expert input and preparation, the strength you find in YOURSELF may be all you need to take that step!

Future –   It’s all up to you if you want to be bold enough to take ownership of your work/life, and have more control over both. Here’s a test: imagine your future in the job you have today. Now, imagine your future if YOU are holding the reins, being a true entrepreneur. Which would you choose?

Acknowledging objections, while avoiding “analysis paralysis” to find SOLUTIONS, is the key. Remembering the right “F Words” in your search for a better life just might be the trigger you need to be your own boss.

Are you ready to get started?   If so, we’ve got your back at The Entrepreneur’s Source.   Get started on your path by embracing the positive “F Words” with one of our coaches through education, awareness and discovery.
