The Entrepreneur’s Source: Say Goodbye To Corporate America

Happy-Feet1

The Entrepreneur’s Source (TES) Lifestyle Profile: Michael Scroope Says Goodbye to Corporate America and Hello to Helping his Community.

Michael Scroope is a rock star…and his greatest fans are his family and TES coach Mike Komondy.

Scroope was recently named a “Rock Star Franchise Owner” for 2019 by the “Franchise Business Review” and Komondy couldn’t agree more. As a career transition coach with The Entrepreneur’s Source®, Komondy remembers that it was just a couple of years ago that Scroope was moving his young family out of the New York metroplex to North Carolina with no job in sight…but big dreams for the future.

“He very quickly became a poster boy for successful franchising,” Komondy says.

Settling into his first year as the owner of an Apex Leadership franchise, Komondy says Scroope became their “number one guy on the east coast during his first year.”

But let’s go back a bit.

Can you imagine a five-hour commute? Can you imagine only seeing your children on Saturdays and Sundays?

That was the life Michael  was living while working as VP of Sales for a New York based cable company. “At the end of the day, we were all tired,” Scroope remembers. “It was good financially, but it just wasn’t a good life. I wanted to be able to read my kids a story at night and to kiss my wife goodnight.”

An acquisition and severance package later, Scroope and his wife decided to make a drastic move. They landed in North Carolina with big hopes and a little bit of an old dream. “Being an entrepreneur was always an idea in my head, but to be honest, I thought when I got to the point in my life that I had a family, that that ship had sailed. I thought this isn’t the time to make a change.”

He met career transition coach Mike Komondy for a bit of networking.

“We just talked about possibilities and he had three things that were important: He wanted to be around his family. He wanted to be a part of the community and he wanted to positively impact children.” Komondy immediately thought  — Apex!

The possibility that Komondy presented is a franchise that helps schools raise much-needed funds while at the same time combining fitness and leadership for school children. Scroope and his wife were intrigued by the idea, but were battling some of the same fears faced by many dreamers — could they make the change out of Corporate America and invest in a business of their own?  Luckily, they had a TES coach by their side.

Scroope and his wife found The Entrepreneur’s Source® to be a valuable tool throughout the process. His first full school year in his business, Michael Scroope raised nearly $1 million for schools – it’s a feat that landed him the title of “Rock Star Franchise Owner.” He gives some of the credit to corporate America! “I think being fed up with corporate America gave me some of the courage I needed too. I still work hard, but now I do what I want to do when I want to do it.”

“Mike hit the ground running. He was laying down the foundation well before he even went to training,” says Komondy. “Now he vacations the way he wants to because when school’s out, he’s free!”

Komondy feels he’s done more than help someone find their place in life…he’s helped a friend. “We went to the first fun run he had, and his kids were there with him. You see the positive impact it’s having on the kids, the school community, the teachers…it’s amazing.”

“What I like about The Entrepreneur’s Source® is the foundation of what Terry Powell has laid it out to be…relationship driven! It’s more about doing the right thing for somebody and giving them options.”

“To not talk to The Entrepreneur’s Source doesn’t make sense,” says Scroope. “There’s no risk involved. All you’re doing is getting educated. You have nothing to lose.”
